It seems there’s more to being a well-read gourmand than one might first imagine—particularly if you subscribe to the Robert Parker Wine Advocate (RPWA) guide to fine wines. Launched last week, the RP Benefits programme, which is complimentary to all its members, is the company's first-ever lifestyle programme providing food enthusiasts and wine connoisseurs exclusive access to unique wine and dine experiences at more than 70 restaurants, including select Michelin-starred and Michelin-listed establishments. These unique benefits include the opportunity for members to bring their own bottle at no corkage charge or at a discounted rate when they dine at over 50 select restaurants in Singapore, such as Braci, Chef Kang Kitchen, Meta Restaurant, Saint Pierre, Shoukouwa Sushi Restaurant, The Kitchen at Bacchanalia and The Song of India.
There are also complimentary wine tasting experiences at leading wine merchants and up to 20 per cent discount at participating restaurants; other extras come in the form of complimentary wine pairings at restaurants Alma by Juan Amador and La Terre.
Of course, there is more to this programme than a free glass of sparkling wine, which can be had at Foo'd by Davide Oldani or sake at Hashida Sushi Singapore. For an up-close-and-personal experience, diners can take a tour of the kitchen or have a drink with the chef at the kitchen. More establishments will be added to the list of benefits periodically. And while RPWA has chosen to debut the programme in Singapore, plans are in the pipeline to roll it out in other countries.
