You can never have too many bottles of wine and whisky. And if you’re looking to add more to your collection, drop by 1855 The Bottle Shop’s Wine & Whisky Week happening from April 19 to 30 at Suntec City East Wing, Level 1 Atrium (between tower 3 and 4).
As expected, there will be loads of tipples to sample (over 500 varieties to be exact) from vintage Bordeaux labels, award-winning wines and spirits, to 2017’s trending grape varietal: pinot noir.
50 labels from 10 wine-producing regions will be introduced, with exclusive labels rated 90+ points by James Halliday, Wine Advocate or Wine Spectator. Our favourites include Yering Station Village Pinot Noir 2014 from one of Australia’s oldest vineyards (the first vineyard was planted in 1838); Bouchard Pere Et Fils Beaune Greves Vigne De L'Enfant Jesus 2012, one of the long-standing Burgundian wine estates in France.
Biodynamic wines are all the rave now, too. Prepare to get your hands on the 93-pointer Burn Cottage Pinot Noir 2014 from New Zealand’s Central Otago Estate, which has been biodynamic since its inception, as well as the 95-pointer Lethbridge Pinot Noir 2013 from Australia, which won “Wine of the Year” at the 2015 London Sommelier Wine Awards.
Whisky lovers, you’re not forgotten with an array of both rare and popular choices. The Macallan 12 Year Old Fine Oak, known for its aroma and oaky flavours, will make an appearance alongside Taiwan’s Kavalan Single Malt, which bursts with tropical fruits and creamy richness; and Glenmoragie Bacalta, which recently launched its Private Edition series.
What’s a wine and whisky event without getting up close with the makers themselves? Pick up a thing or two at the masterclasses available. Oscar Rioja from El Coto de Rioja, Best Spanish Winery of 2016, will take us through their coveted tipples, while 1855 TBS’ Lewis Mitchell will share his knowledge on peated and unpeated whiskies.
