Designed by the New York based firm AvroKo, Bedrock has a sexy, dark and intimate setting. It provides a quiet sanctuary from the busy shopping district with its enclosed but classy interiors. You can spend the whole day there (if you want to) with its comfy chairs and booth seats.
Start your meal with the baked camembert, served on a sizzling hot plate with crisp bread and garlic. Big enough to share, it’s a decadent way for everyone to start the meal. Also impressive is the well-conceived dish—the roasted bone marrow—simply served with chopped parsley and toast to perfectly capture the full flavour of the delicious bone marrow.
Save your appetite for the famous Bedrock Tomahawk steak. Served with the bone in, the 400-day grain fed F1 long-bone wagyu beef ribeye comes with five sauces: red wine, Bedrock chilli oil, classic béarnaise, wholegrain whisky mustard and chimichurri. The meat comes perfectly grilled; the outer flesh has a more charred finish, while the middle and inner bone parts are juicer and fuller in flavour.
Finish off with the apple crumble for two; you won’t regret the calories when you see the baked apples and walnut-infused streusel topped with a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s an excellent dessert to complete the meal, thanks to its homey warmth in every bite.
There’s a good selection of Old and New World wines, but the choices for wines by the glass can still be improved. However, do go for the whiskies as the collection spans Scottish, Irish, American offerings.
Service staff are pleasant and attentive. They are very knowledgeable about the food and wine, so it’s easy for diners to ask for recommendations.
Dinner is pricey, but with the quality of the food—especially the steaks—it’s worth your every buck.
