Cherry Garden offers a reassuring traditional elegance, with luxe Chinese interior settings that showcase teak wood, cherry motifs and calligraphic embellishment. A warm hued colour palette adds to the quiet serenity of the restaurant.
The Cantonese cuisine is sumptuous. The golden pumpkin soup with morel mushrooms and diced chicken, for instance, offers soothing delicate flavours and texture. The oven-baked honey marinated cod fillet with black pepper is all succulent goodness bolstered with a fiery sweetness.
Cherry Garden’s Peking duck is indeed delectable, with a commendable crispiness of skin and tender juicy flesh accompanied by traditional condiments, Chinese crepes, spring onions, cucumbers and homemade sauce. Do also order the stir-fried rice vermicelli with seafood, silver sprouts and yellow chives, which makes for a light, flavourful accompaniment to the other dishes.
Our dessert choice of cherries in nui er hong and aged kuei hua wine cocktail jelly served with refreshing lychee sorbet rounds off the meal beautifully. A colourful visual treat, it also delights with its tempered sweetness and fragrant fruity taste sensations.
The menu offerings are well edited and complement nicely the wide repertoire of fine Cantonese cuisine. Along with choice selections of Old and New World wines, there is also an interesting range of traditional Chinese wines. Servers are most helpful with wine recommendations.
The service is excellent. Servers are gracious, well informed, and as unobtrusive as they are efficient. In particular, Thai waitress Joy is an absolute gem. Fluent in Mandarin, she is impressively adept at seamlessly handling crowded tables, making spot-on menu recommendations and serving dishes with engaging warmth.
The average spend per person is about S$58++ for lunch and $98++ for dinner.
