Restaurant has a busy yet casual vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating. You can opt for the al fresco area when weather permits, but if you want to get the feel of the lively crowd, it’s best to book a table inside.
Specialising in sake and sumiyaki (skewered charcoal grilled meats), the menu is extensive and carries over 100 items. It may be hard to choose at first so we recommend starting with the seasoned baby octopus (taco wasabi), perfectly grilled with a nice char; BBQ spicy cod roe (Yaki mentaiko) that packs an umami punch; and the chicken fillet mixed with cod roe (sasami mentai).
There are more savoury delights such as the garlic rolled with chicken skin (tori kawa ninniku) which is grilled to perfection and has a melt-in-the-mouth texture. Also delicious is the oyster with miso sauce (kaki buta maki); it’s simply delicious with its sweet sauce and intriguing tinge of smoky sensation. It’s perfect with your sake.
Other notable grilled items include the juicy chicken meatball brushed with sweet soy sauce (tsukune), chicken thigh with leek (negima), ox tongue (gyu tan), chicken wings ( tebasaki) and the succulent and tender pork belly (buta bara).
The fresh cod fish (gindara) is also tasty as it absorbed the flavour of the miso marinade well. The meal concludes with the refreshing black sesame ice cream—one of the four flavours in the compact dessert menu.
There’s a strong sake offering with a good selection from different regions of Japan: 40 different types from entry to premium range, and from dryness to sweetness. There is a smaller range of beers, wines and cocktails such as the refreshing yuzu cocktail.
The staff are attentive and cheerful service despite the bustle. Food gets served with utmost efficiency.
Price is reasonably especially when you dine in a group.
